I am really happy with how this project has turned out it has finally shown me the path which I want to carry on with. I learnt a lot more about looking at lighting and actually working on my own technique.
second set of final images
I really like these images as they are so soft looking and studying artistic nude images I think paid off. These images as a set go really well together the only thing I would liked to try out with both sets of images was maybe try the white background but I think the grey background gave it more of an artistic felling.
Final Images
I am so happy with way that these images have turned out, I’m using them in a tryptic style 2 sets of 3 images so here is the butterfly set. I really like the way that the make up artist has made the models eyes into butterfly’s, I think this set of images will work really well as an art piece on walls. The lighting had taken me a few goes to get right and I think I got the best result in the end...
Back home from the shoot and I’m really happy with the way it went even though yet again I didn’t like using the digital back as it made me feel like couldn’t control the camera oh well the Cannon Mark 2 was brilliant. the lighting after a few trials and errors I finally got the lighting to the way I wanted it to look and the grey background really gave the images some texture,...
photoshoot day
So today I have 2 photos shoots one in the morning and one in the afternoon I’m really nervous as my assistant that I always ask to help isn’t able to make it as she has a lot of work to do as well, hopefully from working with her the last couple of weeks I will be able to get the lighting I want.
getting the lighting right
so here are the images of trying to get the lighting right on the models face and a picture of the set up of the lighting. as you can see it had taken a few times to get the lighting to the right adjustment but once I did the images came out really well.
Study group session
had a study group session today and showed some of my work to the girls and the agree with me to only use my recent 2 shoots as they are much more attractive images and Chole suggested that it would be really interesting in seeing them in triptych style which I thought was brilliant 2 sets of triptych images so now its time to actually figure out which ones I want in the set which is proving...
Alexandr Senchuck
Alexandr Senchuck is a bodypainter and digital artist there isn’t much information on him I found a website on the make up show link http://www.themakeupshow.com/the-makeup-show-blog/ I really like the style he uses its a bit more over the top than I want to go with my work for the moment but I find the make up and the image as one a really interesting concept.
I looked back at my shoot from the other day and decided that even though the images are good there are not up to scratch for my liking. So this week I’m going to be working so much harder to get this shoot to work and get amazing images that are better looking and a more creative concept the next 2 shoots are based on avant garde one of which will contain a butterfly theme which will have...
Emma Hack
I found body artist Emma Hack looking through one of the interior designs magazines I got with one of my Sunday news papers, she for one of her projects she used wallpaper and paints a model in the exact way the wallpaper is so the model is hidden. I find this concept so fascinating as there must have taken hours to get this correct with both painting and lighting its just a perfect concept.
Michael Jackson Theme shoot
So here is the second shoot of this afternoon the make up was rushed but I think it turned out really well I think I prefer these images to the rolling stones I haven’t a clue why but I think they are more eye catching a little more softer more enjoyable to look at I had to keep the black background as the time wasn’t going to well I would have like to do this shoot on the grey but I...
photoshoot The Rolling Stones theme
So here is some of my images The Rolling Stones theme shoot. After all the stressing and worrying about last weeks shoot being cancelled todays shoot was stressful also due to time management and not knowing the equipment properly so quite a few hiccups that I had to book out the Cannon 5D mark 2 as I found working with the digital back to off balance and couldn’t get my composition right with...
The images from todays shoot will be up later there has been some really nice results but I think there is time for improvement for next weeks shoot :)
photoshoot
Today was my first shoot for this project and it didn’t go well at all the model’s turned up on time but I was having difficultly with the capture one camera not a great start the camera to me even though it does have amazing images I found I couldn’t control the compositions on the camera I felt it was really heavy and it just made me feel very uncomfortable that was the first...
Alexa Meade
I just found the most interesting artist that uses bodypaint in the most unusual way she is a painter and photographer she uses her paint brushes to paint people as if they where they actually look like paintings, when first looking at the images I thought it was just a painting until read the text saying that the models have been painted in acrylic paints. the image above is crazy its so...
stressed out!
So its the day of the first photoshoot and disaster has struck! the make up artist has had to cancel due to a family member being in hospital so I have had to cancel the shoot which isn’t something that I needed to happen but it did, I have had to change the shoot to next week and photograph both models in the same session hopefully it will go smoothly and I get the images that are needed.
looking at my own work I really want to be able to bring more of an edge and softness to my work to get it to the next level I’m looking forward to my shoot this week exited and nervous as I want it to go well.
Craig Tracy
Craig Tracy has his own bodypainting gallery, he has always been an artist he got his inspiration was from his family and where he lived in New Orleans, he always remember’s when he was growing up with his family and painting eachothers faces for Mardi Gras. When he was 16 he worked in a shopping Mall evenings and weekends he learnt air brushing he had to learn how to make custom tshirts and...
model mayhem
so I have been looking for models and sent out 6 messages last night to models and I have had 2 reply’s from 2 female models who are interested in doing the shoot which is great, this means I can start planning the shoot I have the studio booked for the 13th so I will have the Rolling Stones shoot this week and the Michael Jackson one hopefully the week after on the 20th I will book that on...
I had a meeting with the make up artist and it went really well she really like the idea and also threw in the idea of doing an avant grade look as well on the other two models we will be photographing so its time to start looking for models, I really like the idea of using both male and female models so its time to start looking.
light bulb!
whilst looking through the internet for more inspiration I thought back to the idea of the The Rolling Stones idea I thought hmmmm maybe I could keep looking at the using music as an idea when I came across this picture.
I really like the idea of using a Michael Jackson’s silhouette on the models back whether this would work I will have to ask the make up artist later today when we meet...
Rudi Everts
this amazing picture is by Australian body artist Rudi Everts, he has done all 12 signs of the zodiac this one is my favourite as it is so detailed.
looking at this work really inspires me and the Pink Floyd image has got me thinking about themes I know have two in mind and I will be trying both of them in this project. The first being music and the other advent garde style art.
Australian post office poster
The title that goes along with it says: “If you really want to touch someone, send them a letter” an amazing amount of work must have gone in to creating this. I don’t think it was photoshopped it looks like really good body art.
The Rolling Stones
as one of my themes I have decided to use The Rolling stones logo as inspiration and thinking of using this logo to put onto the body, but I need to talk to the make up artist first to see if this is possible, next step meet up with make up artist!
Phyllis Cohen
This is an example of Phyllis Cohen’s work she calls herself a face fanatic, she studied in America and London but not as a make up artist.
Pink Floyd
I came across this poster in HMV then decided to find out more about it.
It was originally created by Team Thorgerson in 1997 to promote EMI’s release of Pink Floyd’s back catalog of recordings. The original limited-edition prints of this image have become one of the most sought-after (and valuable) collectibles in the rock music/art world. Tony May shot this image of artist Phyllis...
Amazing Obama body paint illusion
apparently this was created by Swiss artist known only as ‘Dave’. I found this really creative as it uses more than one body and it needs to be precise to work.
Andy Yang, Clever Campaign for Breast Cancer...
I found this campaign on breast cancer awareness campaign this isn’t just normal body painting but in a graphic artist style the painting had taken half a day to get correct and the client knew exactly what they wanted. I really like the way it was put together and how they thought about the actual project to bring awareness and comical effect to get women to think aout breast cancer. this...
the last three artist studied; Gudido Daniele, Titus Powell and Andy Yang have inspired me to experiment with bodyart makeup for my next project. I will start to research more body art for inspiration.

Titus Powell
Titus powell work is really interesting as he also uses paint to draw attention to the model, this is the sort of work that I would like to get done for my project using the back of the model to paint a picture.
Guido Daniele
body painter, airbrusher and painter. In 1972 started to work as a hyper-realistic illustrator with major editing companies using and testing different painting techniques. In 1986 for his personal work and improving his personal usage of air brushing for stages, artistic advertising, TV commercials and TV programs. Human Canvas
So for my independent practice I will be carrying on with a project started last term but I’m changing the theme from not just animals but to anything, I’m calling it the human canvas the idea is to have 6 images that would work as art work,an exhibition or just as an interior design to hang in someone’s house, I have 3 to 4 photoshoots and need to get 6 images out of this brief...
